Shop Policies & FAQs
General Information
Often product photos are sample photos. Customers will receive carefully crafted recreations. As these items are handmade, no two pieces will be EXACTLY alike. As such, some variation is normal and should be expected.
Jewelry Weight
Although jewelry may look heavy, because of the nature of polymer clay, most pieces are lightweight, weighing on average 5 grams. Some pieces, of course, are heavier. Earring weight is always noted in the product description for your convenience!
Metals & Hardware
Jewelry findings are hypoallergenic nickel and lead-free metal alloys.
If you would like to purchase a piece off my site, but desire alternative hardware, I offer a variety of options. Almost all earrings have clip-on and leverback options. Most earrings will also allow you to pick between silver and gold as finishing colors. Available hardware options and alternatives will be listed in the product description. Simply leave a note at checkout or email me within 24 hours if your desired hardware differs from the one pictured.
If you would like a finding option other than what I offer, feel free to switch metals on your own. I will not take artistic offense!
Processing Policy
Often, items are made-to-order. Given this, please allow time for the careful creation of your piece(s) before they are shipped out to you. This means processing can take from one day to two weeks, although most orders are processed within a week.
Shipping Policy
Each order will receive a tracking number. If you are in the U.S., shipping takes between three to five business days. This is in addition to processing time. This means that all U.S. orders, that are not subject to carrier delays, should arrive within three weeks MAXIMUM of the order date, oftentimes sooner.
Please note I am not responsible for any delays, damages, or losses on the carrier's part. Once an item has been shipped, I am no longer responsible for it. However, if there are issues, e.g. damages or losses, please feel free to contact me to see if I can accommodate you in any way.
If you notice you have inputted your address incorrectly, please contact me as soon as possible. I am able to make edits to your address before an order has been shipped out.
Multiple Orders
Oftentimes, patrons wish to checkout multiple times in an attempt to get multiple items without missing out on their first choice. Feel free to place multiple orders within a 48 hour period and email me to be refunded shipping for all, but one order.
Items going to the same person will be packaged together, thus eliminating the additional shipping charges; this means one tracking number will be distributed for all the orders.
Shipping refunds will show up to the original payment method within 5-12 business days. This time period is contingent on the company my site uses to allow purchases and refunds.
International Shipping
I do ship internationally! Shipping time ranges from 1-3+ weeks depending on the carrier and the country's customs regulations. Pricing ranges from $15 to $19 depending on the country.
Due to complications with Brexit, please contact me beforehand if you are hoping to place an order from the UK.
Time-Sensitive Orders
As mentioned above, processing can take up to two weeks and shipping another week. This means waiting a maximum of three weeks (for U.S. orders). Although orders oftentimes arrive sooner, if your order is time-sensitive, please feel free to contact me beforehand to see if I can accommodate the deadline.
Pricing
Fairness is always at the top of my mind when it comes to pricing my items. I want to be fair to my customers and to myself. Thus, there are three things I consider when pricing my items.
The first is time. There’s a lot that goes into my art, even if it may not look like it! Supply sourcing, designing, and prototyping on their own are time-intensive. Often, it is hours of this type of labor before I finally sit down to sculpt the “official” pieces you see on the site. Since everything is handmade, sculpting is generally no quick task. Assembling, photographing, marketing, and packaging are all steps that require their own time as well.
The second is labor intensity, which generally implies detail. Each step listed above requires its own level of labor. Supply sourcing, designing, prototyping, sculpting, assembling, photographing, marketing, packaging, business maintenance, etc. all have different and unique demands. Depending on the piece, some steps may be more demanding than others. For especially detailed pieces, sculpting each part by hand can be incredibly labor-intensive.
The third is material cost. Art, marketing, packaging, and business supplies can be quite costly. The monthly fee on this website, for example, would constitute as a “business cost.” The cost of quality hardware used for jewelry or the cost of boxes to protect pieces during shipping would constitute as “art” and “packaging” supplies respectively.
In conclusion, I will never ask for more than what time, labor, and material accounts for. I am genuinely thankful to those who are understanding of this.
For those who are interested, Klarna is a popular payment plan option that you can set up before placing an order.
Commissions
Commissions are accepted ocassionally on a case-by-case basis. My ability to take on a commisson depends on the design and my current schedule. If you are interesed in a custom piece, feel free to email me with your request. Please note, I do not accept commissions for exisiting Clay Water Lily designs.
Refunds
As a small business, returns are quite costly for me. For this reason, I do not allow refunds, exchanges, or cancellations except on a case-by-case basis where products arrive damaged due to negligence on my part. If there are any issues with your order, please contact me and I will do my best to help.
If there are any other issues or concerns feel free to reach out to me!
Thank you
Lastly, thank you so much for considering my shop! I am forever grateful for the love and support. Without you, The Clay Water Lily would not exist!
